We have pleasure of closing out the year 2020 with some excellent news, about which we are very proud! TIPTOE has been collaborating with Pantone, the international institution of colour, which has just revealed the 2021 Colour of the Year! An event that we never miss at TIPTOE, colour being so important to us and to our industry.
This collaboration will soon come to fruition after long months of work between 2 passionate and optimistic teams! Our already wildly popular table legs will be available in the Pantone Colour of the Year. Two new inseparable colours, powerful and hopeful, to be unveiled at the start of the new year. What is Pantone?
Pantone is an American institution based in New Jersey and founded in 1866. It is the originator of the Pantone Matching System: each shade or hue is inventoried using a special formula and given a name. For more than 50 years, Pantone has inspired designers, brands and all those who want to know new trends, find the most appropriate shade for decorative objects, fashion, design… This system, also known as the “colour chart”, is based on a colour palette created with the goal of being able to reproduce a unique and exact colour, as many times as necessary.
The Color Of The Year (COTY)
This is an event that we never miss at TIPTOE — as color is so important to us and in our industry! Every year since 2000, Pantone has put the spotlight on a color from its range of palettes that inspires all the major manufacturers and publishers. To choose it, Pantone draws inspiration from different fields such as entertainment and fashion, but also the socio-economic conditions and lifestyles of the population. They choose the single shade that best reflects what is currently taking place in our society.
COTY 2021
To say the least, 2020 was a year like no other. PANTONE thus decided to name not one but two colors as the Color of The Year 2021: Ultimate Gray (17-5104) and Illuminating (13-0647). This marriage of color conveys a message of subtle strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.
- Ultimate Gray: the color of pebbles on the beach natural elements such as rock, stone, granite, whose weathered appearance highlights their resilience and ability to withstand the test of time.
- Illuminating: a bright and cheerful yellow expressing a message of re-affirmation and welcoming warmth.
A story of color that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly, and a message of happiness supported by fortitude, this is a color combination that is aspirational, that gives us hope.
Pantone x TIPTOE: the collaboration
At TIPTOE, colour has been a crucial component since the creation of the brand. Our palette consists of modern, creative and timeless colours. The idea of a collaboration between TIPTOE and Pantone came to us naturally: Pantone’s colour expertise combined with our mission to create beautiful and durable furniture was a perfect match!
As a result of this collaboration, we will release a TIPTOE x PANTONE limited edition of our table leg in Ultimate Gray (17-5104) and Illuminating (13-0647). Simply choose from our sets of 4 legs, in monochrome or a mix of the two colours, which will be ready for purchase at the turn of the year!
It’s quite an accomplishment for us to collaborate with Pantone to celebrate these two colours that are meant as a message of unity and hope for the coming year!
