How tall should my table legs be?
Most of the time, with few exceptions, you will scarcely need to ask yourself how tall you need your table legs to be! However, with TIPTOE, you can design your own bar table, prep counter (work surface) or coffee table, and choose the height of your dining room table. This operation is made very simple by TIPTOE: the available heights correspond to those of standard furniture, and will therefore match perfectly with the furniture you already own.
Take the time to think about your project and define the table leg that’s best for you!
Choose the right height of table leg for your project
TIPTOE table legs come in various heights. To choose the right table leg, first ask yourself what kind of furniture you want. The height of a table varies based on its intended use. A coffee table will not need a steel table leg as tall as a standing dining/snack table, for example.
Leg height for coffee table or bench
With the 43-cm designer metal table leg, you can design your own coffee table or a bench. The coffee table can be used as a side table, at the end of a sofa for example.
The height of the coffee table is based on a standard height. Bear in mind that, as a rule, the seats stand 45 cm from the floor. This means that your coffee table will be lower than your armchair, and your bench will be slightly lower than a standard seat. The bench designed with the 43-cm TIPTOE legs will therefore be perfect as a decorative entry-way bench or for extra seating.
Leg height for kitchen dining table or desk
If you are looking for additional kitchen furniture and are wondering about the height of your dining table, TIPTOE offers you its 75-cm dining table leg. This is the standard height of a table. You can therefore place the chairs and armchairs of your choice around your furniture. Just add a beautiful wooden table top and ask your family to come taste your delicious recipes!
This metal table leg can also transform into a desk leg if you need to create a space for teleworking. The height of the desk is ideal for writing or taking part in videoconferences with the greatest of ease.
For more convenience and to enjoy beautiful European materials, choose TIPTOE dining tables and desks in eco-certified oak or recycled old woods.
Leg height for work surface or prep counter
With a 90-cm high table leg, you can easily design a prep counter or a central island for your kitchen. The height of your rectangular table gives you a place for your personal belongings and keeps them well within reach. Your prep counter will allow you to remain standing while you peel, cut and season, with all the freedom of movement you need for such tasks. Indeed, with a height of 90 cm, the prep counter stands near elbow height, for optimal comfort. Check for yourself at home, this is usually the standard height of countertops in your kitchen.
Pro-tip: set up your stand-alone prep counter at the end of an existing one and gain precious extra space to put the finishing touches on your recipes, without any difference in height between the two countertops.
Leg height for kitchen island
As a central island, the height of the table leg also allows you to create a lovely working surface. Keep your utensils close at hand without cluttering up your kitchen and create a welcoming atmosphere. All your loved ones can gather around this wooden table and get involved in the food prep! You will see, your recipes will be tastier than ever 😉
Bear in mind that the 90-cm high table leg is not designed to be used free-standing, detached from the wall, with four legs and a top. They have been designed to extend an already existing prep counter, a central island or to support a prep counter connected to the wall by the BRACKET wall mounts or a traditional mounting system.
Leg height for kitchen bar and standing snack table
The table leg with a height of 110 cm is ideal for setting up a bar and/or standing snack table in your kitchen or living room if its dimensions allow for it.
This height is not a stroke of luck: it is ideal for those moments when you need to eat, but don’t necessarily have the time to do so! Also, the table leg at 110 cm means you don’t have to bend down to grab your salt shaker or slice of bread, perfect for eating on the go!
If your kitchen opens onto your living room, use your standing snack table to create an original and modern delineation between the two spaces.
Leg height for standing snack table
This furniture also works as a table for small spaces. With only two legs (your wall supports the other end of the table top), you save on space and give new character to your interior! For more comfort around your bar, choose a BIG LOU TIPTOE high stool. It will fit perfectly around your furniture and create a soothing harmony in any given room.
This table is not designed for stand-alone use with four legs, detached from the wall. It requires a top that can be mounted on a wall using the BRACKET wall mounts or a conventional mounting system.
Note that all heights mentioned are standard heights, so you will have no problem arranging your chairs and armchairs around your favourite designer table!
Use a wall instead of table legs!
As space is often lacking in our modern homes, you can count on TIPTOE for an aesthetic and original solution! As such, with its 75-cm desk leg and its BRACKET wall mount, all you need is two legs and a wall to gain additional work space. If your layout and lifestyle allow, this piece of furniture easily transforms into a table for a small space. It can fit comfortably in a hallway, for example.
So here you have this “system” with the legs for a bar or standing snack table, as well as the legs for the prep counter (work surface). The 90-cm and 110-cm legs are reserved exclusively for those uses. You will not be able to make a 90-cm high table with 4 such legs. However, with two BRACKET wall mounts, you can have an extension for an already existing work surface in just a few minutes and as many turns of a screw. You can also arrange your furniture at an angle to your table, to make room for more guests!
With the 110-cm legs and wall mounts, use your bar to create a dividing line between your kitchen and your living room. This will be very useful in spaces where the first room opens onto the second.
After the size of your table legs, choose the colour!
After having thoroughly worked through the question of height for your high table or for the legs of your work surface, move on to the fun part of the job: the choice of colours! All TIPTOE table legs come in several vibrant colours, to mix and match in as many ways as there are moods. Give some new style to your wooden furnishings and tables, and design your furniture as you see fit!
