Can you introduce yourself?
Hello, I am Delphine, a French illustrator based in London. I grew up near the Vermeille coast in France and went on to complete my degree in Art History in Rennes. The sea and the ocean are a part of me and are integral to my artistic universe.
How would you define your creative universe?
It is a universe that aims to be soothing, meditative, and solitary, with also a touch of melancholy embodied by the choice of vintage colors.
Water and the maritime environment are omnipresent and a reminiscence of my childhood. Besides, I swim myself and regularly visit public swimming pools.
- What did the Olympics inspire in you?
The Olympics were a great opportunity for me. The chance to expand my creative universe into the realm of synchronized swimming. It’s something I have long wanted to explore, and my collaboration with Tiptoe was the catalyst.
I have always been fascinated by the artistic aspect and the precise rigor of this swim. I wanted to represent the pool, the locker room, and the café that the Olympic swimmers frequent daily—their moments of rest and training.
- Why did you decide to represent these TIPTOE products?
I chose to represent the bench, the shelves, the chairs, the coat racks, and the stool because they are timeless objects that one can definitely find in public swimming pools. Their minimalist and clean lines blend well with this type of architecture. And they are essential elements in our interiors.
For the café, I was inspired by the Heju studio to bring the decor to life while carefully selecting a summer color palette. Each selected Tiptoe object perfectly complements the aquatic universe I imagined and fully serves its function.
- What is your vision of Tiptoe?
Tiptoe objects are universal. To me, they are like a chameleon that can blend into any decor while enhancing it.
I also particularly appreciate the eco-friendly approach and the use of non-noble materials, like recycled plastic, to create design objects. In my eyes, perfection and aesthetics lie in simplicity.
Where will you be during the Olympics?
I will most likely be in the south of France by the sea. And I will follow the swimming events with interest.
A place where you feel good?
The cozy tea room located in the Petersham nursery in Richmond Park, London. Sitting next to that fountain sipping a coffee!
