TIPTOE by Ekaterina Trukhan

What does TIPTOE look like through the eyes of an artist?

Constantly in search of inspiration, we have given carte blanche to artists to appropriate our pieces in their universe. This is a way to mix two creative fields and discover TIPTOE from another point of view. Discover Ekaterina Trukhan, illustrator.

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Ekaterina Trukhan. As a creative person I usually wear many hats. I illustrate and sometimes write children’s books, I make designs for various products and I also run my online shop where I sell art prints.

How do you describe your creative world?

I like to create my happy universe where colours are bright and life is joyful.

Where do you get your daily inspiration?

From everywhere! Depending on the project, it can be a pleasant walk outdoors or a nice colour combination spotted somewhere.

How important is your home to you? What does it say about you?

I’m an introvert and for me home is a place where I can get recharged and spend time on my own. Besides, I work from home, so it’s also my creative space, my bubble, where I can switch off from the rest of the world and concentrate on my work.

Why did you choose the TIPTOE bench legs?

I moved very often during the last few years, which made me rather practical. So for my home I choose only essential and functional things. I like the idea of flexibility and I picked the legs because they can turn any board into a bench, coffee table or stool.

What is your vision of TIPTOE?

Functional products with minimalist design and great combinations of textures and colours.

What did you like about integrating our products into your creative world?

I like the aesthetics of TIPTOE products. I think their playfulness and simplicity fit in my creative world well.  As a children’s illustrator I often draw children’s rooms filled with imaginary pieces of furniture and objects. I enjoyed working on the brief, because it gave me a nice opportunity to introduce recognisable TIPTOE products into my artwork.
