The recycled plastic chair : a new milestone

The SSDr chair is the result of 1.5 years of hard work towards the creation of a beautiful, useful and sustainable piece of furniture in an industry where the use of recycled plastic is almost inexistant. The SSDr chair is a new milestone in our ambition to create sustainable furniture.

In this version of the SSD chair, the seat and backrest are not made of wood but of recycled PP plastic. PP or polypropylene is a plastic with a wide range of industrial applications.

SSDr : Simple, Strong, Durable and Recycled

SSDr is SIMPLE : this chair assembles in 2 minutes with just one screw and is made of only 5 easily-replaceable parts.

SSDr is STRONG : this chair is 100% made in Europe with SMEs with exceptional know-how inclunding our family factory based in France, near Chamonix.

SSDr is DURABLE : the chair is made of durable and eco-responsible materials. It is delivered in a flat packaging made of at least 80% recycled paper. The SSDr pack is about three times more compact than a conventional chair, which reduces CO2 emissions during differents storage and shipping phases.

SSDr is RECYCLED : the backrest and seat of the SSDr chair are made from recycled PP plastic.

Recycled PP plastic

For this version of the SSD chair, we use PP plastic (polypropylene) because of its specific technical and mechanical properties combining flexibility and resistance.

PP or polypropylene is a widely-used type of plastic that can be found in food containers, household appliances, automotive parts and more.

In the furniture sector, the vast majority of plastic objects use virgin plastic and the integration of recycled plastic in the manufacturing process is still in its infancy. With the SSDr chair, it is a matter of giving a second life to a waste product, reusing it to create a new object that is beautiful, useful and sustainable.

Moreover, the different components of the SSDr chair have been carefully selected to allow the chair to be recycled, but also 100% recyclable!

The SSDr chair in recycled plastic, a must-have

The SSDr chair is distinguished by the nobility of its materials and the quality of its finish. Its light appearance coupled with a monochrome look make it an elegant and contemporary chair. Thanks to its clear and assertive lines, the SSDr chair has the ability to energize a room.

In line with our product design DNA, the legs of the SSDr chair are made of powder coated steel and come in the same colours as the TIPTOE legs. The colours have been designed to match the wood of the TIPTOE tables.

The SSDr chair aims to prove that it is possible to give a second life to waste materials to create beautiful and useful objects.

Care instructions

For the recycled plastic seat and backrest, a simple damp sponge cleaning is sufficient. Our powder-coated steel legs are built to last and do not require any special maintenance. If necessary, you can clean them with a microfibre cloth and clean water.
